Top ten tourist destinations in India are:
a) Udaipur, Rajasthan:
Udaipur is famous for its lakes, palaces, forts, temples, gardens, and romantic environments. It was the historic capital of Mewar in the former Rajputana Agency. The city was named after Maharana Udai Singh who shifted his capital from the city of Chittorgarh to Udaipur. It became a part of Rajasthan when India got independence in 1947. Some famous places of Udaipur are Udaipur City Palace, Lake Pichola, Bagore Ki Haveli, Eklingji Temple, Lake Fatehsagar Udaipur, Jagdish Temple, Srinathji Temple, City Palace Government Museum, Jag Mandir and Monsoon Palace etc.
b) Nainital, Uttarakhand:
Nainital is a well known hill station of Uttarakhand in the Kumaon foothills of the outer Himalayas. The city is located at an altitude of 2,084 meters, Nainital. The valley contains a pear-shaped lake, about two miles in circumference, and surrounded by mountains. From the tops of the peaks, one can get magnificent views of the vast plain to the south and the great snowy range in the north which is the central part of the Himalayas.

d) Kashmir:
Kashmir is the northernmost geographical region of India. During18th century, "Kashmir" was only the valley between the Great Himalayas and the Pir Panjal mountain range. Today, it expands into a larger area that includes the Indian-administered territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistani-administered territories of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, and Chinese-administered territories of Aksai Chin and the Trans-Karakoram Tract.
