Famous Shiva Temples situated outside India
Arulmigu Sri
Rajakaliamman Glass Temple - Johor Bahru, Malaysia: The temple was built around 1922. This is one of the oldest Hindu temples outside India. The land for the temple was donated by the Sultan of Johor Bahru. Initially, it was a very small temple, but today it has become a grand one.
Munneswaram
temple – Munneswaram, Sri Lanka: The temple has a link with Ramayana age. According to the Hindu Shastrya, this is the place where Lord Rama worshiped Lord Shiva after killing Ravana. There are five temples in one compound among which the largest one is devoted to Lord Shiva. It is said that Portuguese attacked the temple twice but couldn’t make any damage.

Zurich, Switzerland: This is a small but very gorgeous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Inside the main shrine, just behind the idol of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, a beautiful sculpture of Nataraja can be seen. All festivals related to Lord Shiva are celebrated very magnificently here.
Katasraj
Temple – Chakwal, Pakistan: Katasraj Temple is one of the ancient Hindu temples of world. It’s name is mentioned in the epic Mahabharata also. There is a famous story about the formation of this temple. It is said that after death of Goddess Sati, Lord Shiva wept so much in pain. The tears are preserved in two of lakes; one is Pushkar in Rajasthan and the other one is in the Katasraj Temple.
Shri Shiva
Vishnu Temple - Melbourne, Australia: The temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. It was founded in 1987. Ten famous Hindu priests were invited from South India and Sri Lanka during the opening ceremony of the temple. The temple is a fine assortment of Indian and Australian architecture. Inside the temple other than the images of Lord Shiva and Vishnu you can see the idols of many other Hindu divinities as well.

Oakland, New Zealand: The main reasons for the establishment of the temple is to Sanatan Dharam philosophy and Hindu language and culture without distinction of race, cast, creed and color in New Zealand. The temple was opened for public in 2004.
Shiva Vishnu
Temple – Livermore, California: This is the largest Hindu temple of all outside India. The temple is a perfect architectural blend of North Indian and South Indian style. Other than Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, Lord Ganesha, Goddess Durga, Lord Ayyappa, Goddess Lakshmi is also worshiped here. Most statues of the temple were donated by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Pashupatinath
Temple - Kathmandu, Nepal: Pashupatinath (Lord of all animals) Temple is one of the ancient Hindu temple which is believed to be built around 11th century. It was highly ruined by termites. The temple was rebuilt in the 17th century again. The temple has 4 silver doors which lead to the Chaturmukha (four mouthed) Shiva lingam. The temple is a good architectural combination of India and Nepal.
