Dakshineswar Kali Temple - Kolkata
Dakshineswar Kali Temple is located on eastern bank of the Hooghly River near Kolkata. This Kali Temple was built in 1855 by Rani Rashmoni, a humanitarian and a devotee of Kali. The temple is famous for its association with Shri Ramkrishna Paramhansa, a spiritualist of 19th Century Bengal.
Inside the temple compound, other than the nine-peaked main temple of Kali, there are twelve Shiva temples along the riverfront, a temple to Radha-Krishna and a bathing ghat on the river.
The temple also has a huge courtyard with rooms along the boundary walls. Dakshineswar Kali Temple remains opened from 6 am to 12.30 pm & 3 pm to 8:30 pm (till 9 pm during summer months).
