Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi
Rashtrapati Bhavan is official residence of the President of India. This iconic building is the perfect combination of Mughal and European architecture although it's highly influence by the dome structure of Sanchi Stupa. The building was founded when British shifted their capital to Delhi from Kolkata. It was built for the British Viceroy. It is made up of red sandstone. The specialty of this place is that the lines of the dome can be seen from a great distance.
Colorful Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan is very nicely decorated with colorful stones. And the Ashoka Hall complex is entirely decorated in the Persian style. Incredible wooden designs on roofs, windows and canopy represent a different aesthetic sense which can mesmerize anyone. The entire location itself is very enchanting. The four - story main building has 340 rooms all together. There is a drawing room, a dining room, a banquet hall, a tennis court, a polo ground, a cricket field and a museum separately inside the presidential estate. No steel had been used anywhere in the whole building. The mentionable part of this stale is Mughal Gardens which is located at the back side of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. It's stretched over thirteen acres of land where one can find lots of exotic varieties of flowers.
Some other places of interests in Delhi are Akshardham Temple, Iron Pillar, Tughlakabad, Lodi Gardens, India Gate, Parliament House and Jantar Mantar. Traditional north Indian foods of 'Purani Delhi' are one of the major attractions for the travelers.
