Jama Masjid - Delhi
Jama Masjid: Just opposite the Red Fort there is the India's biggest mosque 'Jama Masjid' which was built by Emperor Shah Jehan as the central prayer place in his newly founded capital 'Shahjehanabad'. The mosque has 3 gates and with a height of around 130 feet.
The podium has been made with a single block of marble. It's three big domes of while marble with black marble strips has become more gorgeous due to the golden spires and spiral lead to the top. Its tapering minarets are made of red sand-stone with vertical white marble.
There is the footprint of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad in one corner of the hall. Twenty thousand devotees can be accommodating at a time in this mosque.
